If this works, I am going to hire 1,000 npcs, to fill my fleet of warships. And I'll never interact with another player if I can help it. Getting 10 real people to login and work on your ship is hard. But NPCs are just ready to go 24/7

So... is this why server meshing is so important? because each NPC needs its own super computer controlling its incredibly advanced AI?

why dont they fix firs the combat enemy AI which is standing still until you kill them or they fly directly to you and ram you in space.....THEN move on to develop something different

Not sure I am happy that we can have full NPC crews AND they will be better than humans as I feel that will discourage people from multicrew gameplay if they are rich enough. That said, if it is exorbitantly expensive then that may be a decent enough countermeasure

90% of the time NPC's are standing on furniture and they're talking abut NPC's being productive crew members ?

Elite Dangerous has ship launched fighters. Star Shitizen has bugs when trying to recover the fighter. Elite Dangerous has ship to ship refueling. Vehicle terducken has bugs that makes ships go boom. You can fly around a planet seamlessly in Elite Dangerous. Star Shitizen has loading screens but you're just not smart enough to see them. Star Shitizen does not allow you to freely fly around a planet or moon but you can do this in Elite Dangerous.

Alot of what was said about npc crew, was during the era where CR and the devs literally walked on cam, said some shit without anything to really show or back for it, and many of things they have already reverse course on. I'll be taking the whole npc crew with a mountain of salt.

NPC Crew is never happening. It will get cut to get to a minimal viable product aka 1.0 as soon as they can. Time has run out and the sharks are circling.

Well If the implement half this, when will you have time to play the game. I sometimes wonder if the goal is to make the games miserable enough to make real life look like a vacation.

Between my javelin and polaris, the main NPC roles I plan on hiring are engineers and maybe security detail and each set of NPCs will have a player in charge of them. Bridge crew will be 100% player. But I don't buy giant ships with the plan of being the captain much. You dont walk around the ship much as the captain.

I agree with the free to play crew only players, I already know a few people that would be interested in it but there needs to be more stuff to do in cities for them to keep them interested when I'm not on with a ship.

Took me few attempts everytime but it's working :) Now I can happily loot bodies even when I'm on avenger titan with deliveries from data center (it's often hard to land close enough with cutlass with many left over ships around)

When has any game ever delivered on promisies of highly advanced NPCs? This will be no different. Programming AI is extremely difficult and trying to create ones that can operate in zero g in hundreds of different ships on hundreds of planets with procedural terrain and custom settlements? Im not holding my breath.

This is not possible using heuristics. Anyone who thinks CIG can create heuristic AI that can fly ships out of hangers, do missions by themselves, or run around the ship repairing components, all dynamically, is ignorant of the difficulty of such a task. This will not happen heuristically, mark my words. %95 of what CIG has said will not happen, or be wildly changed/removed by release.

I want to keep playing star citizen but my computer is a beast for our family and I still can’t run a stable frame rate on the lowest settings 😢

Salvaging with a Vulture isn't as profitable as it was in this video but on the flipside we have the metal panels in Lagrange points that can net you about 450k per hour if you fill your Vulture with about 3 full buffers (39 scu boxes I think), still a long road to 16 million though

I forgot that NPC's can level up. NPC crew that is equal in efficacy to humans will (hopefully) never happen. If it did, why have humans at all? It would be more of a movie than a game.

what happens to the ship crew when you store the ship? do they despawn? what happens if i switch from a reclaimer to a scorpius? idk if they said it in the video and i missed it

Every Crusader trader needs AI blades to open doors right in time for when someone wants to pass through. I think NPC's should be at best below-average to average player equivalent. Even so, more players is more eyes and more brains. It's important to encourage teamplay. Then again, selling huge ships and not being able to fly them due to lack of social skills is not very economic for CIG.
